| Ontario's Most Requested DJ Music Service For Over 25 Years... | ||
|
Insured. Licensed. A professional company. |
||
![]() We are insured. Our equipment is and warehouse is insured...but most of all, our DJs carry liability insurance. What is this important? You never know if someone is going to be injured at your event. The other main reason is that many professional banquet facilities require all onsite working vendors to have liability insurance. We are licensed. What does this mean to you. First it shows that we pay our dues so that the record companies and artists are receiving payment for us playing their music. Second is that it also tells you we are not downloading music from the internet and playing for profit. This is actually a criminal offence. You cannot steal music from the net and use it to profit from it. There are "music cops" in Ontario that visit reception facilities on Saturday nights looking for DJs who are using downloaded music. Actually, the music cops are private investigators hired by the AVLA who collect information for further investigations. Here is a scenario.... You hire a DJ and he shows at your event. He is playing his music that has been downloaded from the net and is not legal or licensed. What happens next could make or break your event or even wedding! If the investigator approaches the DJ and finds him to not be in compliance, he will take the info and leave. The problem for the DJ will actually begin on Monday. But at your event, the DJ is probably panicking... If you have ever blasted past a speed trap at 120 in and 80 and you get that sinking feeling...its the same feeling the DJ will have! Do you really think the DJ will be focused on your event. You are welcome to come and see us at our open houses or a personal one on one consultation and we will show you our insurance certificate and our AVLA licenses. SOCAN is not a fee that is collected by us. It is collected by the hall. That fee applies to any facility that plays music or allows music to be played to create an ambient environment. This money goes to the writers and publishers of the music we play. How do we feel about AVLA and
Socan? We think they are both a joke and a cash grab.
But, it is a cost of business. We do not pass along our cost
of AVLA licenses.
