When Bil meets with all his clients, they all hear the same thing...to be a dj is not rocket science.  It is quite simple.  The key to the success of a wedding reception is thorough planning, the tools to do the job professionally, training and attention to detail.  We are planning fanatics.  We look after every detail to ensure a great evening.  The planning though is not only for the music and a format...it is essential that all the planning before the dj starts is thought out.

Starting at the arrival of the guests for cocktails after the ceremony, make sure you give yourself lots of time for photos.  If you are going for photos off site - take a drive the weekend before the wedding and take a walk around the area where you are doing you photos.  Drive back to the hall and make sure you time yourself from the church to the park and the park to the hall.

If your dinner is at 7pm like most of the weddings so far for 2003, you would have cocktails from 530pm to 630pm.  At 630 your guests are received into the room.  This time may be earlier or later depending on how large your wedding is.  Everyone should be seated by 650pm and the MC should have the intros into the hall and grace done by 715pm and dinner should start.

Ultimately, dancing should start between 900pm and 930pm.  Speeches are what many brides and grooms dread on their wedding day because it is so hard to gauge how long it will take.  There are some tricks to make this go quickly and painlessly.

First off, separate the speeches from the toasts.  The toast should be done between the courses.  Your guests will love this because they can see right away that you want this done as soon as possible.  Next comes the speeches.  Decide on who is to speak and for who.  Once you decide, don't change your mind!  Depending on how late it is in the evening and how many speeches there are - you can do one of two things.  If you are running really late and its already 900pm and you haven't started speeches yet, do the speeches during desert.  If its really early or 800pm - wait until desert and coffee are served then start the speeches.

Once this is done, and you are ready to start or the bride and groom have had the last word, it is time for a quick break for your guests.  Get a drink, stretch your legs and get some fresh air...join us back here in 10 to 15 minutes for the cake cutting and first dance.  If its too late, give a 5 minute break to yourself and get things going.
